Aizatto’s Related Posts Plugin Released

Note: 25th May 2007: New version is available

Update (14th May 2007): This plugin is being updated, expect a new version in the next week or two.

So I’ve written another plugin, which has been used on my sites for quite a while already. I’ve adapted the Related Post plugin, and improved on it somewhat.

First of all the biggest change is you DO NOT need to modify your template files to include the Related Post section. It will go directly to the bottom of your post.

Besides that, it’s probably the same hubub.

The guys behind Wordpress by Examples (disclaimer: friends of mine) have written a better description about this plugin.

Requirements:

  • None that I know off

Download

Installation

Note: A new version is available, you sure you want this one?

Normal plugin installation. Move the aizattos_related_posts.php into your Wordpress Plugins Directory (generally wp-contents/plugins).

Hey that’s an interesting bug. Did you modify the page template in anyway? Is it a freely accessible template that I can download and somehow solve the bug?

It works great. But I like to be able to control where it will display the related post in my page.

How do I go about doing that?

    @vsnguyen

That sounds great, if you could give me some suggestions where you’d like the related post to be, I can work on it :).

    Regards,
    Aizat

Nice plugin! Is there anyway to make sure it doesn’t display Pages as related posts, and only posts? For example, my About page is showing up as a related post. Thanks!

The plugin works great but I get this error when I first activate it.

WordPress database error: [You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near 'WHERE Key_name = `post_related`' at line 1]
    SHOW INDEX FROM `wp_posts` WHERE Key_name = `post_related`

WordPress database error: [Duplicate key name 'post_related']
    ALTER TABLE `wp_posts` ADD FULLTEXT `post_related` ( `post_name` , `post_content` )

I’m using wordpress 2.1.3 and mysql 4.1.20. I’m not really familiar with sql commands so I haven’t figured out what to do.

    Hi,

I just installed this plugin and it works a treat once I forced Install, but I was wondering if there was any way I could alter the styling of it as where it displays the title on the page of “Related Posts” is too large for my site?

    How could I change this

    Many Thanks

    Martin

Great plugin! But I’ve ran into the problem of the recent posts appearing on my homepage as well as on the pages I create. How do I fix this please?

Thanks for the comments. The plugin is ready, but before I release, I’d like to know if anyone is willing to test it! Please, pretty please…

    Hi,

Thanks for this new release, I know this may sound like a silly question, but how do I make it relate posts?

    Many Thanks

    Martin

    Me Again!

Sorry the only reason I ask, is because I can’t seem to get it to show any related posts, I’ve put the same keywords in different posts, but it still says, Related Posts: no related posts.

I’m not sure how it works?

    Thanks

    Martin
